When Jesus said, "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you" (Matthew 6:33), He was teaching us to prioritize God above everything else in life. But what does that look like in practice?
How to Seek God First?
1) Put God at the Center of Your Life
- Make your relationship with God your top priority, not just a part of your schedule.
- Ask yourself daily: Is this decision, action, or plan honoring God?
2)Pray and Talk to God Daily
Prayer is how you connect with God. It doesn’t have to be complicated—just talk to Him.
Make prayer a habit in the morning, before making decisions, and before sleeping.
3) Read and Meditate on the Bible
The Bible is God’s way of speaking to you.
Start with the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) to know Jesus more.
Ask: How can I apply this to my life?
4) Live According to God’s Will
Make choices that align with His Word, even when it's difficult.
Example: If you’re pursuing a career, ask "Is this aligned with what God wants for me?"
5) Trust God for Your Needs
Instead of worrying about money, career, or relationships, surrender them to God.
Work hard, but trust that God will provide at the right time.
6) Serve and Love Others
Jesus taught that loving others is part of seeking God's kingdom (Matthew 22:37-39).
Be kind, forgive, and help those in need.
7) Be Part of a Faith Community
Surround yourself with people who encourage your faith.
Join Bible studies, church groups, or faith-based communities.
8) Surrender Your Plans to God
Ask God for guidance in every step of your journey.
Instead of saying, "I want to do this," say, "God, what do You want me to do?"
What Happens When You Seek God First?
When you truly put God first, He aligns your desires with His, and He provides for your needs (not necessarily your wants). He shapes your heart, gives you wisdom, and leads you to success that brings true peace.
